Light of DAE Studios

How It All Began

Fifteen years ago, a man named Gerard Doyle decided that he wanted to do something special to give back to the music industry, which had fuelled his career since he had started building sound systems in 1981. This desire, combined with Gerard's observation that young people were being led astray by so-called rock stars who were into drugs and violence, led to the birth of the Light of DAE Studios.

Almost immediately, some other players in the music industry expressed an interest in the project. They committed to equipping the Studio in exchange for recording time. Unfortunately, they backed out of the project when construction of the Studio was underway.

The fact that we had a partially built Studio with no equipment was a short-lived glitch. Using his considerable clout in the music industry for the good of society, Gerard was able to persuade allies and competitors alike to provide state-of-the-art equipment for the Studio. At the same time, he reached out to young people seeking to get into music industry themselves, and they gave of their time and energy to finish building the Studio.

Construction of the Studio was completed in 2006, and in early 2009, the Light of DAE Studios was incorporated as a not-for-profit organization. Under the guidance of our Board of Directors, which is comprised of leading individuals in business and music, we continue to grow and change lives.

So far, over 300 youth have been a part of the project. Some of them have come to us as at-risk youth, but their lives have been turned around and they are now positive, productive members of society.
